The Media and Democracy Karol Jakubowicz Award Goes International

We are happy to confirm that the Associate Editors of “Central European Journal of Communication” (CEJC) as well as the Leadership team of the International Association of Public Service Media Researchers (IAPMR) join this year’s edition of the Media and Democracy Karol Jakubowicz Award.

Our colleagues from both CEJC and IAPMR networks will have an opportunity to recommend books, articles, research reports or related media policy documentations on democracy, human rights, media ethics, media policy and public service media – key areas of interest of Karol Jakubowicz. The experts will be asked to evaluate and nominate scholarly works highlighting the originality and methodological correctness, the contribution to media and democracy studies, and practical implementation to media and societal awareness. The Selection Committee will further nominate up to 6 publications for this year's edition. The Award winner will be announced by the Committee on April 28 – the day of the passing of Karol Jakubowicz.

The Media and Democracy Karol Jakubowicz Award was established by Małgorzata Semil-Jakubowicz and the Polish Communication Association in 2018. Opening-up to external networks of experts in 2021 is the first step to internationalize the Award.
